Domain FAQ

Buying a domain, answered

Clear answers to the questions buyers ask most about payment, transfer and ownership.

Payment

How do I pay for a domain name?

Payment terms are agreed directly with the owner once your offer is accepted. Send your offer through the portfolio site and the owner will confirm the amount and how payment is made.

How is the price set?

Each name is priced by the owner. Open the portfolio site, choose the name you want and make an offer; the owner replies with a price or a counter-offer.

When is payment made?

The timing is agreed in writing between you and the owner before anything moves, so both sides know the order of payment and transfer.

Transfer

How is the domain transferred to me?

After the agreed terms are met, the domain is moved to the registrar account you nominate. You will need an account at a registrar of your choice to receive it.

How long does a transfer take?

The owner will give you a timeline when terms are agreed. Registrars also have their own processing steps, so ask the owner what to expect for the name you choose.

Can several names be transferred together?

Yes. If you want a matching set, mention every name in your offer so the purchase and transfer can be handled in one go.

Ownership

Who owns the domain names today?

The portfolio is privately held and operated by DomainBrat.com. You deal directly with the owner, with no brokers or resellers in between.

What do I own after I buy?

Once the transfer is complete, the domain name is registered in your account and you control where it points, how it is used and whether you renew it.

Who handles renewals after the sale?

After transfer, renewals are your responsibility through your registrar. Keep renewal reminders on so the name stays with you.
